Sewer

The Sarasota County Government posted late last night that the sanitary sewer collection system (SSO) was inundated with rainfall and flooding, causing a breach of 9 lift stations. The Gulf Gate Regional Lift Station located at 7302 Bounty Drive was one of them causing a breach of 96,000 gallons.

Here is the statement posted by the Sarasota County Government

During Tropical Storm Debby, the sanitary sewer collection system was inundated with rainfall and flooding. Despite our staff’s efforts throughout the storm, nine out of our 785 lift stations (1.1%) experienced sanitary sewer overflows. The causes included power outages, an overwhelming amount of rainwater in the system, and pumps clogged with rags.

Below is the list of stations, addresses, and approximate sewage volume spilled at each location. Due to site conditions, recovery was not possible. Many of these locations are being sampled as required, and cleanup and notifications are proceeding per protocol.

As mentioned in our previous post, we have requested a meeting with our District County Commissioner Joe Neunder to discuss the current and future conditions of our neighborhood and how the development of the golf course can potentially cause a major impact on the existing homes.

We highly recommend that all Gulf Gate residents/occupants express your personal concerns to Commissioner Neunder. You can email him directly at jneunder@scgov.net. Here is a link to his SCGov page. Joe Neunder, District 4 (Vice Chair) | Sarasota County, FL (scgov.net)
