Board Meetings

The Board meets monthly to execute Association business. Due to very tight time constraints, we regret these meetings are not “open door”. We do, however, welcome members of the community with advance notice. If you would like to attend, or if you have an issue you would like the Board to address, please complete a request.

Committees & Volunteer Opportunties

GGCA’s strength lies in the talents of our volunteers. Committees are always welcoming new members. If there is an area or areas that interests you please use the contact link, below, and note your area of interest(s) so that our Volunteer Coordinator can direct you.

BEAUTIFICATION / INFRASTRUCTURE

Communicate with appropriate County offices regarding street issues, non-functioning street lights, median supervision (monitor and coordinate with County liaison), respond to flooding concerns, oversee Gulf Gate monument signs (decoration and maintenance), prepare and display meeting announcement signs

CITIZEN PATROL / NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH

Chair coordinates Citizen Safety Patrol, liaises with Sheriff’s Department and maintains crime statistics.  Volunteer duties are to observe and report any suspicious activity on assigned route (volunteers NEVER engage, only report).  Minimum commitment of 1 hour for 1 day/month. DATA MANAGEMENT

Update Demographics data, identify ownership changes and advise Welcoming Chair of new residents, maintain annual Membership List, prepare monthly reports for Board review

DEED RESTRICTIONS

Identify and notify (via mail) residents of deed restriction infractions, verify reported violations, participate in mediation of infraction issues, help educate residents about deed restriction adherence, assist with deed restriction amendment questions

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS TEAM

Chair oversees Emergency Response Team, arranges training, runs appropriate drill exercises and is responsible for assigned equipment. Volunteers fill active and ‘armchair’ roles: Logistics (keeping track of our resources and how to move them), Maintaining and Testing Equipment, Communications before, during and after an event, Radio Team, Tracking local shelter locations and Managing Resources. This Team also serves as a gateway to Citizens Emergency Response Team (CERT).

FINANCE

Provide financial oversight, assist with the annual budget preparation, provide reporting on GGCA financial status.

MEMBERSHIP

Coordinate annual Membership campaigns, offer member enrollment at meetings, attend GGCA social events to verify memberships and offer enrollment, represent GGCA in the community to encourage enrollments.

NEWSLETTER

Suggest and write articles for a quarterly newsletter, coordinate printing and mailing with database manager

SOCIAL EVENTS / HOSPITALITY

Plan and coordinate social events, provide hospitality at General Community meetings.

SOCIAL MEDIA AND WEBSITE

Manage GGCA presence on Nextdoor and Facebook, create and execute blog posts and maintain website content.

TRAFFIC SAFETY

Coordinate with Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office to identify speeding and unsafe driving locations toell facilitate enforcement.

WELCOMING

Work with database manager to identify new ownership, collect and copy “welcome” materials, prepare packets for distribution, deliver packets to new residents.

NOMINATION COMMITTEE

Recruit candidates for officer and Board positions for year-end election
